Pam Wedgwood steps in to the Spotlight

Faber Music’s new Spotlight Series, represents a variety of imaginative repertoire for stage or concert performance, from Key Stage 1 to 3. Some of the cantatas provide scope for creativity through the addition of movement, whilst others are fully contained ‘mini-musicals’. Written appropriately for the age-group by experienced educational composers, here are songs and shows to suit all abilities and ages.

A Minibeast Christmas, by Pam Wedgwood and Debbie Needle is a variation on the traditional Christmas story, told from a rather unusual viewpoint – that of the minibeasts in the stable, who find themselves the first to witness the miracle of Jesus’ birth. Gentle humour and catchy unison songs characterise this light-hearted musical.

The Christmas Cobweb, their second collaboration, is a charming, magical story with memorable unison songs and optional percussion for key stage 1. From the comfort of a modern day living room, travel back in time to the birth of the baby Jesus and discover how a tiny creature made a great contribution on that important day.
