Workshop Information

Pam Wedgwood has been inspiring teachers and pupils through her work in music education – as composer, teacher and performer – for over thirty years. Director of Music at a Junior School until July 2000, she became increasingly aware of the pressures and frustrations of her non-specialist music teaching colleagues getting to grips with the National Curriculum. Now a full-time freelance workshopper and composer, she has focused all her energy and imagination into devising strategies to get the most out of teaching music at Key Stages 1 and 2. Faber Music currently publishes over 40 books by Pam Wedgwood, and many of her pieces have been selected on Associated Board, Trinity and Guildhall Syllabuses.

Workshop Timetable

Pam offers 3 types of workshops, the outlines of which are listed below:

Pam Wedgwood’s Primary Workshop
This workshop provides a wide range of strategies for Key Stages 1 and 2. At all times, Pam has used the National Curriculum for music as a context for her ideas, thus building upon the useful guidelines already set out there. The overall aim is to provide practical, helpful (and extremely enjoyable) ideas on how to teach music – to convince all teachers that they are capable of contributing a great deal with the skills they already have, even if they aren’t confident in these skills. The only tools a teacher will bring to the workshops is a love of music, instinctive enjoyment and the willingness to ‘have a go’.  Whilst the workshops are primarily aimed at teachers with little or no musical experience, there is also plenty of material for experienced music teachers looking for inspiration and new ideas.

The cost of this workshop is £200 + expenses.
This workshop will last approximately 2 hours.

Pam Wedgwood’s Music Mix
Designed for instrumental teachers.

Includes:

  • How to retain your pupils after the first year
  • Inspiring your pupils
  • Making your lessons more enjoyable
  • Choosing the right repertoire
  • Getting the right balance in today’s world
  • Practical ways of improving the ear
  • Simple improvisation
  • Creative composition, teaching the more mature pupil a new approach to graded exams

You will go away with:

  • An opportunity to look at lot’s of new repertoire
  • Practical handouts and workshop notes
  • Some great new teaching ideas
  • A smile on your face!!

The cost of this workshop is £150 + expenses.
The length of this workshop will be approximately 2 hours.

The Recorder World Workshop
This will involve a practical and informative workshop based around Pam’s highly successful new recorder tutor Recorder World. This 2 hour workshop is aimed at both specialist or non specialist music teachers covering all aspects of teaching the recorder using Recorder World.

The cost of this workshop will be £200 + expenses.
